NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash / Review

January 23, 2018

Lately, I used exfoliators regularly, but I wanted to try something completely new. Today I’m reviewing the NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash, a strong, pH-balanced foaming face wash with 18% glycolic acid.

Glycolic Acid is without a doubt one of the most effective active ingredients currently known in skin care.

If you don’t know,  glycolic acid is an active compound derived from cane sugar that is used most often in chemical peels. It’s basically used to improve the skin’s appearance and texture. Primarily to reduce wrinkles, acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation and improve other skin conditions.

Apparently how this works, is that the glycolic acid reacts with the upper layer of the skin and weakens what holds the dead skin cells together and allows the dead skin to be exfoliated.  It takes off that nasty top layer of dead skin and smooths out your skin.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids are proven to have a remarkable effect on the top level of the skin or the epidermis. Resurface products are ideal for normal skin types experiencing poor texture, including rough, dull skin, enlarged or congested pores, and fine lines and wrinkles. AHAs dissolve the bonds of thickened dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, causing exfoliation of the upper surface layers to reveal newer, hydrated, healthier skin.” – NeoStrata.com

Ingredients – CosDNA: Aqua (Water), Glycolic Acid (18%), PEG-8, Alcohol Denat., Arginine, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Ammonium Hydroxide, Lactobionic Acid (2%), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin.

I have been using this cleanser twice a day for about a week. And again I asked my husband to test this product with me (I wrote about his skin type here). The foam is thick and luxurious and stays foamy the entire time you are washing.  Love it! It’s a great solution to exfoliate your skin without any scrubbing. You still can get rid of the dead cells by just gently washing your skin with the NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash.

I have heard so many people say their skin got very dry from using glycolic cleansers. So I moisturize my skin much more during I use the NeoStrata Foaming Glycolic Wash.  After a week of using this Wash with no problems, I started to notice that my skin texture became quite rough. I immediately stop using it, ’cause every time I try to wash my face with it started to really burn. I think this is stronger than I need but I love that it cleans your pores. I can only use it once a day. But this is a perfect product for my husband and he continues to use it twice a day and his skin has become perfect. I see a big difference, so I think it a #numberone product for people with oily skin.

For me to use this product twice a week is enough to see great skin improvement. This product helps me to get rid of acne scars really quick. And I found my skin smoother and more clear.

Remember, you should gradually increase your glycolic acid percentage before using this cleanser.  You must always use a sunscreen when you are using acids.  This cleanser is not recommended for sensitive skin. It’s important to note the products with Glycolic Acid can make the skin more sensitive to UV rays, so using SPF40+ daily is recommended.
